Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I rent a condo instead of a hotel room?

We think that a condo is the most convenient and least expensive (in many cases) way to go especially in Maui. You will save money as you are able to have more meals ‘in’, and you will not be paying for the “extras” that a hotel builds into their nightly rates. You are also in an environment where you will feel more ‘at home’ as you have all the conveniences of being at home in your condo. You are also able to choose the unit based on what it looks like as well as based on what the view is. Pictures on our website are accurate depictions of the condo and its view. Hotels can guarantee a view category but do not let you know the exact unit # nor do they say how good the view will be.

Q: What if I do not like the condo when I check in?

Our units are all individually owned and rented thru us for an owner who is depending on the income from your stay. We are not able to move you into another condo once you have booked and are within 30 days of your arrival. We will do all we can reasonably think of to make your stay comfortable and pleasurable.  Pictures of each unit are always available on our website for pre-viewing.

Q: Do you provide daily maid service?

In order to keep our rates lower that hotel rates we do not provide daily maid service. This leaves you with privacy and the convenience of washing your own laundry as many condos have a washer and dryer.   Daily maid service may be purchased. Please contact our office for details.

Q: My confirmation says I will receive one maid service. What time should I expect to see the housekeeper and what can I do to prepare for them?

Maid service can occur anytime between 8 am and 4pm. Maids are not able to come back another time or day if turned away at their initial visit. For a more thorough cleaning you might clear off counter tops and beds so that they can do a more thorough job.

Q: Do I need to clean the condo before we check out?

No. The check out cleaning has been built in to the cost of the nightly rental. If you would please do the dishes or at least start the dishwasher, take out the trash and remember to grab all of your belongings before leaving that would be much appreciated.

Q: Do the condos have an iron and ironing board?

Yes.

Q: Will there be a hairdryer in the condo?

No. We suggest packing yours from home or purchasing one once you arrive.

Q: What if a light bulb goes out, or better yet, what if I have a maintence issue?

Please call our office NOT the front desk. We will handle all maintence issues in the condo.

Q: What is the average temperature on Maui?

The average temperature on Maui’s West side is ranges from 75-85 degrees (Fahrenheit) during the day. It can get to be as low as in the mid 60’s at night and in the 90’s in the warmer places like Lahaina Town during the day. Do not forget about the humidity…temperatures seem warmer as the trade winds decrease.

Q: Is there a rainy season on Maui?

Usually we get more rain from December to March. This doesn’t mean it rains every day. We just tend to have more precipitation during these months. Reminder: No rain, no Rainbows!

Q: How does one get from the Kahului Airport to the West side (Lahaina side)?

Directions from the Kahului Airport are simple: From the airport parking lot follow directions onto Hwy 380. Follow Hwy 380 thru Kahului towards Lahaina (see posted signs). Follow 380 thru the central part of the island, passing sugar cane fields to both sides. Continue to the intersection to Highway 30 and turn left towards Lahaina. Travel over the Pali (rocky cliffs) and into Lahaina Town. Please see your directions sent along with your arrival information for directions to your condo.

Q: What time does the sunset on Maui?

That will vary. In the Winter months the sun typically sets between 5:45 and 6:00 pm.  During the Summer months between 6:45 and 7:00 pm...approximately.

Q: What is provided in the condo?

Our Maui condo rentals are all “fully equipped”.  This means that during your stay, should you need anything that you would find in the average household, you will find it in the condo as well. This means you have a full size refrigerator, microwave, stove/oven, utensils, dishes, pot and pans, linens, ………..

Q: Are beach towels provided?

Beach Towels are not included in our regular linen service. You may arrange for beach towel service before your stay or at least one day in advance of the day they are required. Please contact our office for pricing.

Q: What are the additional costs if any?

Your condo costs, room and taxes, are noted on your reservation. Additional charges depend on the property where your condo is located. Please contact our office directly for specific charges for parking, phone calls, check in fees and resort facility fees.

Q: Are there tennis courts nearby?

Click Here to visit our activities page to view tennis court information.

Q: Where should we go to shop for groceries?

In Lahaina Towne there are two main grocery stores; Safeway and Foodland. Safeway seems to have a little better pricing but Foodland has more of a variety of local foods. In the Honokowai and Kahana area there is a Star Market. If you are up in Napili the Napili Market has what you will need. The ABC stores are good place to grab a snack and bottled water but it will get expensive to get your groceries here.

Q: Where is the nearest hospital/clinic/doctors office?

Our only public hospital is in Kahului a few miles from the airport. Clinics on the west side are located in Lahaina, Kaanapali and Kapalua.

Q: When is Humpback Whale Season?

The Humpback Whales grace our islands with their presence from mid-December to mid- May

Q: What can our family do together for activities?

Q: What is the time difference from Maui to the Mainland?

Hawaii has its own time zone, Hawaii Standard Time and we do not participate in daylight savings time. During daylight savings on the mainland we are 2 hours behind the West coast and at other times are 3 hours difference.

Q: What is the difference between an ‘oceanfront’ and ‘ocean view’ condo?

Oceanfront view is an unobstructed 180 degree view of the ocean.
Ocean view would be a view of the ocean with possible obstructions or a view at an angle or between two objects or buildings.

Q: Are there any active volcanoes on Maui?
No. You are perfectly safe here.

Q: What is the best time to visit Maui?

Anytime is the best time of course. But really it depends on what you are looking for. If you want to enjoy the Humpback Whale Season, winter months will be more suitable. If you want to avoid the “rainier” season come see us in the summer.

Q: What is the drinking age in Hawaii?

Because Hawaii is a United State, the drinking age is still 21.

Q: Are seat belts required on Maui?

Yes. For all passengers seat belts are required regardless of age. Car seats and booster seats are required for infants and children.

Q: Is internet access available in my condo?

Many of the units in our rental program have internet access. Please check with our office to be sure if the access is a DSL or wireless.

Q: How far in advance should I book my Maui vacation?

Winter time is always very popular and books up quickly. Christmas time and February should be planned for as much as a year or more in advance.

Q: What kinds of clothes should I bring?

Pack light. Maui is a tropical island so it is humid. Pack shorts and light loose fitting items. A pair of walking shoes is nice for the shopping ventures and a pair of slippers or flip flops as they are more commonly known is the best item to have in your suitcase. You can wear them for anything from a day at the beach to a casual dinner or luau. Put those dress clothes back in your closet. Maui is a very laid back place.

Q: Do all of the condos have air conditioning?

Actually most condos are not air conditioned. We are blessed to have trade-wind breezes for most of the year which seems to be sufficient for most people. If you require air conditioning we do have several resort properties that will suit your needs. If one of our units does not have air conditioning it will have ceiling fans.  Keep in mind you will pay slightly higher rates for an air conditioned condo.

Q: Do all of the condos have a swimming pool?

Yes, all except for the Pikake. The Pikake is however right next to the ocean and taking a trip to the beach is why you came to Maui right?

Q: Can you suggest any nanny or babysitting services?

Nanny Connection is a full service babysitting service that brings trained and safety certified nanny’s into your condo for a very reasonable fee. Please call them at 808-667-5777.

Q: Do you have any recommendations of where we can rent cribs, beach toys and roll-ways beds for our small children?

We can arrange many of your baby and small child needs through Nana Enterprises. Call our office for details.

Q: Grocery shopping is the last thing I want to do when on vacation but we need to eat. Can have someone else do my shopping for me?
