Molokini is a very unique island, the old remnant of a volcanic crater that has slowly sunk into the sea, leaving half above water and half under. It is a protected Marine Life Conservation District and Seabird Sanctuary, and one of the most spectacular snorkeling spots anywhere in Hawaii. Its crescent shape provides protection from waves and powerful currents, and it featurs clear water and an incredible variety of brightly colored tropical fish. It’s also not uncommon to see manta rays, whale sharks, monk seals and white tipped reef sharks (harmless to humans).
